  1. 1835-1910. US painter and ecclesiastical
  2. designer. He is credited with the revival of
  3. stained glass in America and also created
  4. woodcuts, watercolours, and murals. He
  5. visited Europe in 1856 and the Far East in
  6. 1886. In the 1870s Lafarge turned from
  7. landscape painting (inspired by Corot) to
  8. religious and still-life painting. Decorating
  9. the newly built Trinity Church in Boston,
  10. Massachusetts, he worked alongside the
  11. sculptor Saint-Gaudens.
